The Residences at Thomas Circle

Lady Vehicles Restaurant
In addition to being an instructor, a motivator and a friend, trainers are also part of a resident’s post-operative and post-therapy work. In fact, therapists will often send me written recommendation on what areas to focus and work on. It’s just one of the many benefits of having a personal trainer on staff.

Independent Living

Living independently means having choices. It's the privacy and freedom of home combined with the convenience and security of on-call assistance and a maintenance-free environment. Our communities offer active seniors choices about how they want to live. There are residential choices, such as a selection of apartment floor plans or options to rent or own. There are also lifestyle choices: a full schedule of activities, a selection of meal plans and menus, and options for personalized service to meet a resident's particular needs.

Active Living for Active Seniors

For independent living residents, The Residences offers a wide variety of social, cultural and recreational programs. Book groups, baking classes, theater outings, and shopping excursions—these are just a few of the many activities our residents enjoy. We listen to residents' feedback to develop programs that will complement our seniors' current interests as well as help them discover new ones.

Certified Fun

Group exercise is a favorite activity among Thomas Circle residents. In addition to the many health benefits, exercise classes encourage social interaction, team spirit and neighborly support. Each day, certified personal trainer Neil Ortiz prepares a workout regimen that allows seniors to maintain a full range of motion for their daily activities. More strength and flexibility means less chance of accidents and fewer falls. Participants report having a greater sense of body awareness, along with increased levels of energy.

Another popular health-related activity among residents is yoga. This low-impact exercise class takes place once a week under the instruction of Kevin Norris. It focuses on movement, flexibility and the importance of proper breathing. Holding positions for defined periods of time helps to build strength and stamina. Beginner or expert, this class allows students to move safely at their own pace.
