
Angie Layfield, a native of Maryland, went to the University of Maryland where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies. During her tenure at Maryland, Angie became active in a volunteer program known as the Adult Health and Development Program. During that time she completed a Master's Degree in Applied Gerontology from Towson University. Angie eventually joined Life Care Services LLC as an Administrator in Training, and quickly relocated to Essex, Connecticut to work under the leadership and guidance of a seasoned Executive Director. After completing the training program and becoming a licensed Nursing Home Administrator in Connecticut, Angie was promoted to Administrator at Sandhill Cove in Palm City, Florida. At Sandhill Cove, Angie helped the community earn their second consecutive Gonernor's Gold Seal. During her time in Florida, Angie also participated in a Pilot Program for resident centered care known as LCS Cares.
In the summer of 2007 Angie joined Collington as the Health Services Administrator and in July 2010 became the Executive Director of The Residences at Thomas Circle.
Angie currently resides in Pasadena, Maryland, with her husband, Chris, and children, Molly and Noah.
Danny recently moved to Washington, DC and has experienced the many charms of our capital. He has a Master's in Business Administration, with a formal background in Accounting. Though Danny found his career as an accountant and project manager interesting, he knew that he wanted more of a personal connection. After evaluating his career path, Danny decided to become a Nursing Home Administrator. In 2012, he was hired by Life Care Services and was very happy to accept the position joining Angie Layfield, NHA, Executive Director, as a part of the on-site management team. Danny shared, "My experience in DC has been wonderful, and the future is bright."
Eric was born in Washington, DC and raised next to our nation's capital in Prince George's County. His formal background is in Developmental Psychology. Eric pursued and achieved a dual Master's Degree in Health Care and Business Administration. After completing the graduate coursework, Eric worked at a Continuing Care Retirement Community in Maryland as the Admissions Coordinator for Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living and Memory Care. It was there that Eric gained tremendous experience and knowledge in working with the senior community. Eric has found working with seniors to be very rewarding, and it has allowed him to learn and grow.
As a native to the area, Erin is thrilled to be part of this charming and vibrant, in-town retirement community for seniors. She brings experience in public relations as well as several years of marketing and sales within the senior living industry. Erin's close relationship with her grandparents contributed to her desire to work with seniors. Her background in senior living began almost 7 years ago at a Continuing Care Retirement Community in Maryland. Erin has particularly enjoyed getting to know all of the wonderful residents, learning about what brought them to Thomas Circle, and how happy they are with their decision to live at the community.
A graduate of Agnes Scott College, Dominique Khan joined the Thomas Circle team two years ago as the Activities Coordinator—overseeing and implementing the numerous events that our residents enjoy daily. In that capacity, she got to know each of the residents and familiarize herself with the social dynamics that make up the heartbeat of Thomas Circle. From her role in activities, Dominique transitioned into Marketing, enabling her to introduce people to the community and residents that she knows so well. Dominique has focused experience in both Residential Living and the Health Care neighborhoods. She enjoys working with potential residents and their families to find the best option for them at Thomas Circle.
Eliza Kahn recently moved to the heart of Washington DC just two blocks from The Residence at Thomas Circle. She graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor in Health Systems Management and is currently pursuing a Masters in Senior Housing Administration. Her experience includes Home Health Administration, lifestyle and leisure coordination, and personal training. Eliza has a perpetual passion for resident and client-centered care and feels right at home at Thomas Circle where resident-centered care is the primary focus.
Mark Hinkle has over a decade of experience in management as Director in Health Care Systems. He has been a member of the Annandale United Methodist Church as Food Coordinator for over ten years. Mark can be credited with acquiring the Meals On Wheels contract in Alexandria, Virginia for over one hundred residents. He also volunteered in the Alexandria school system in 2011 as part of Michelle Obama's "Healthy Eating" in schools. For over five years, Mark has taught cooking classes in the Alexandria Continuing Education Program for adults. He is currently working towards a Certified Dietary Manager certificate, which is nationally recognized. Mark brings his charisma and passion for quality dining to the breakfast, lunch, and dinner tables of our residents every day.
Prior to The Residence at Thomas Circle, Chef Ray spent 4 years as the Executive Chef at The Marine Club at Henderson Hall in Arlington, VA. He has also worked for the Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center and Indian Spring Country Club in Silver Springs. He has received numerous awards for exemplary service, consistent performance above and beyond expectations, and community service work for the Orphan Foundation of America. Over the last few years, Chef Ray has completed several Hospitality Management Courses at Penn State University. Before moving to Maryland, he and his wife Maxine owned and operated a fine dining restaurant in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania for 18 years. A graduate of the Taiwan Air Force Academy, Chef Ray completed his culinary apprenticeship for the Oriental Overseas, Hong Kong. He is a member of the American Culinary Federation and has been a past Sergeant at Arms and Vice President of the Nation's Capital Chef's Association. His passion is cooking and studying current culinary trends. He resides in Maryland with his wife, two sons, grandson, and a giant Schnauzer.
